La Cala de Mijas

“La Cala” as this charming village is affectionately known to local residents, lies on the Costa del Sol in Spain approximately 25 minutes drive west from Malaga International Airport. The long beach at La Cala is well cared for, clean and soft golden sand. La Cala de Mijas has a friendly village atmosphere and is located in the middle of the Costa del Sol. The popular village was originally a fishing village and has a restored Moorish tower next to the beach.

Our house is situated at 5 Calle Antequera, one street back from beach front adjacent to the Moorish tower. The house is ideally loacted in the centre of the town right next to the beach and a very short walk to the numerous excellent restaurants, shops, chemist and beach-front bars. The town offers a nice easy paced life, not taken over completely by tourism, but with good facilities. The location enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. Cooling breezes from the sea make the summer heat manageable; temperatures average 32 ºC during the summer.
